Winnie The Pooh Is My Hero.....

Ever since I was a child I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the little yellow bear in the red t-shirt with a love of honey and the little pot belly, and all of his friends.

No matter where I go, I always seem to come back to Winnie, Piglet, Owl, Roo, Eeyore, Tigger and Christopher Robin etc, and every time I do it makes my heart go all warm and fuzzy inside and always makes me smile.

On a trip to London a couple of years back, I stumbled across a copy of A.A Milne's illustrated Pooh stories, and that little book takes pride of place along with Harry Potter and my Rick Riordan and Cassandra Clare collection amongst others in the bookshelf in my living room. If ever I'm feeling down, reading a few pages of Pooh's adventures and rediscovering some of Pooh's best 'Pooh-isms' is a sure fire way to lift my spirits.

For Christmas last year, my favourite moment was watching someone I care about very much open a Pooh bear themed gift that I had put together for them. That moment was so special that I hope you will forgive me for wanting to keep it private between me and that person, as it was a gift given from the heart and for that person to treasure, which I know that they do.

My BFF and I always joke that she is a mixture of Pooh, Owl, Rabbit and Eeyore because she loves her food, can be a bit of a know it all, and goes on a bit sometimes (her words, not mine!) and sometimes takes a bit of a cynical view on life. Whereas I am definitely a mix of Piglet, Tigger, Owl and Roo. BFF says this is because I am a ball of anxiety, a worrier, clever, excitable and silly, wise, and apparently a bit of a softie/kind. (Again - Her words, not mine!)

There are so many Pooh quotes that I love and have gone back to again and again during both good and bad times in my life. I'll probably add them to this post as time goes by. Or share some edits of them later. The fact that even after all my years on this planet they still ring true and carry as much meaning just goes to show that some things really do stand the test of time.

Suffice it to say, for a number of reasons Winnie and friends are really important to me. Some parts of childhood carry through into adulthood and will always feel like a warm hug or that cosy old jumper that always makes you feel happy on a cold winter's day. They feel like home. Winnie The Pooh is my warm hug. Winnie The Pooh feels like home.

Much love - Hayles
